Questioning the Nudge

There is something alluring about the idea of the nudge, though I have been skeptical about it’s reach (how many things really work in nudge-friendly ways) and sometimes about the implicit coercion in its approach (I’m not sure it’s ethically neutral, at least in every setting). Here’s a challenge to the concept’s central conceit: what if the nudgers aren’t actually more rational (at least in the deepest sense)?
