The Empty Chair

Sometimes an empty chair is just an empty chair. Or politeness. Or personal space. Or a place to put my Bible. Contra this article. Which illustrates an annoying trend – to make everyday human interactions conform to a particular individual’s personal preferences (or ideals) and to suggest that failure to do so is really a spiritual problem. To me, just a bit silly and overwrought. But for the three of you out there for whom the empty chair is a spiritual issue, I commend the article to you.
