Pete Enns draws on C. S. Lewis’ discussion of Scripture, arguing that Scripture is “humble” – in everyday words and language. That may not be how we would have done it, but it says something about God’s condescension. And it is a very good thing. Now the specifics of what that means continue to be disputed (and Enns is the midst of that discussion), but I’ve heard more than a few people who forget this important point.
